WHAT FORMAT IS BEST FOR ME?
This depends on your connection speed, computer type, computer configuration and/or your own personal preference.
| Windows-Based Machine with Cable or DSL connection | On a broadband connection (Cable/DSL), you should have more than enough bandwidth (amount of data you can transfer at one time) to watch the "high quality" streams with little or no problems. |
| Most Windows-based machines come with Windows Media Player pre-installed, so that will likely be your best bet if you've not bothered to install another player such as RealPlayer or Quicktime. If you are experiencing problems with any of the formats, press the Change Format button and click on one of the other formats. Make sure you have the latest version of the player for whichever format you choose. Click here to see the minimum version requirements and where to get them. | |
| Windows-Based Machine with a Dial-Up Modem connection | Unfortunately, Dial-up Connections do not have the bandwidth (amount of data you can transfer at one time) to support the "high quality" setting for our movie streams. However, the lower-quality option is still viable and definitely watchable. |
| Beyond choosing "low" for the stream, the same suggestions apply for formats that you would choose for a broadband connection. | |
| Macintosh with a DSL/Cable connection | Choose the "hi" (high quality) option if you're on DSL/Cable, for optimal quality. If you are using Mac OS 8.x-10.4.8, you will likely only be able to view the Quicktime streams for our movies. Just be sure that your Quicktime player meets the minimum version requirements. |
| For OS X users, you can use whichever format(s) you have the plug-in installed for and that you are most comfortable with. Since Quicktime comes pre-installed on all OS X machines, that would be your most compatible, and easiest choice. While you should have no problem meeting the minimum requirements for Quicktime, you might want to take a look just to be sure. | |
| Macintosh with a Dial-up Modem connection | Choose the "lo" (lower quality) option if you're on a Dial-Up connection, for the optimal loading time. The "hi" option will likely be very time-consuming and stuttering for your connection. If you are using Mac OS 8.x-10.4.8, you will likely only be able to view the Quicktime streams for our movies. Just be sure that your Quicktime player meets the minimum version requirements. |

How can I watch a movie full-screen?
To enter Full-Screen mode, simply click on the "Full Screen" button at the bottom right of the player window while the movie is playing. To escape full-screen mode, press the "ESC" key on your keyboard.
If clicking the "full screen" button while watching a RealPlayer or Windows Media Player video does not bring the video fullscreen, you may right-click (Macintosh users : control-click) on the video itself and choose "full screen" (RealPlayer may also say "Theater Mode", which works the same way).
The video will not play / I'm seeing a broken puzzle piece where the video should be loading / I'm only hearing audio / The video is very choppy.
If you have a firewall, make sure it is disabled. If you're on a dial-up connection, you don't have a firewall. Those on a network might have a firewall on, so check with your administrator or your ISP to find out if your firewall is on.
Commonly, however, this is caused by either an incompatible player's plugin or the nonexistence of a plugin for the selected format. Please see our player compatibility list for more information.
I'm not receiving any audio, or the audio is very quiet.
Each of the formats handle audio in slightly different manners. The first thing to check If you cannot hear any audio, is bringing up your system's "Volume Control." Be sure to turn up all channels of audio, not just the "Master Control.". Also, try turning up the volume on your external speakers and test other audio programs on your system to see if they produce audio as well. If that solves your problem, be sure to tell your friends because we all need a good laugh and everyone forgets to turn the volume up at one point or another in their lives.
If your problem is not solved as easily as that, again we urge you to check our player compatibility list and see if you've met the minimum version requirements.
